Dr. Clélia Sigaud, PsyD

Licensed Psychologist, Head of Content Development

Hi! I’m Clélia — a psychologist, behavior analyst, and lifelong learner who still genuinely loves school.

I love the learning process, the community, the content itself, and the sense of endless new opportunities that learning brings. Like you, I was in school for a long, long time! (Psychology licensure is not for the impatient.) While I greatly enjoyed being a student, it wasn’t without its challenges. You know what I think is ridiculous? The way graduate psych students and postdocs are stressed out of their minds. The whole point of being a psychologist is to help people live better lives and lessen the overall toll of human suffering in the world. Meanwhile, postdocs are over here getting three hours of sleep and gulping down triple espressos while trying to do their best clinical work. (I know that wasn’t just me.)

As a doctoral student and young professional, I saw so many brilliant, compassionate colleagues struggle to pass the EPPP on their first—or even subsequent—attempt. These were people who were smart, hardworking, and deeply skilled, yet they still faced an uphill climb. That experience stuck with me.

I’ve spent my early career teaching, consulting, and designing learning systems that make complex material feel clear, approachable, and meaningful. I currently teach psychology and education at the University of Southern Maine and Iona University, and I co-lead Learning Behavior Analysis LLC, a continuing education platform for behavior analysts, along with its consultation offshoot, LBA Consulting. Across all of my roles, the focus is the same: helping people learn effectively without losing themselves to burnout in the process.

Together with my brother Louis, I created Psych Starter to bring you a new kind of EPPP prep built around that same mission. We’re here to help future psychologists feel successful through the process of preparing for licensure. Psych Starter honors both the science of learning and the realities of being human. Every course, guide, and quiz we build is designed to help you study efficiently, reduce overwhelm, and build the confidence that comes from genuine understanding.

My own background includes a doctorate in School Psychology and master’s degrees in Educational Psychology and Special Education. I completed postdoctoral training at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Maryland and at SERESC in New Hampshire, specializing in behavior and learning. Along the way, I discovered that teaching people how to learn is just as important as teaching what to learn—and that insight shapes everything we do at Psych Starter.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, doing endurance sports (ultra running and cycling), eating French pastries, and minimalist travel. I’m terrible at cleaning the bathroom, but I excel at arguing about science.

At the end of the day, I believe test prep should feel empowering, not dehumanizing. I don’t want you to crawl across the licensure finish line and collapse from stress—you don’t deserve that, and neither do your future patients. You can absolutely do this. We gotcha.

Louis Sigaud

Operations Manager

Hi, I’m Louis — I handle the behind-the-scenes systems that keep Psych Starter running smoothly so our learners can stay focused on what really matters: passing the EPPP without burning out.

My background is in marketing and business operations, and I’ve always loved the challenge of turning big ideas into clear, workable systems. At Psych Starter, that means managing everything from content logistics and course delivery to user experience and communication. I make sure our materials are easy to navigate, our learners feel supported, and our team has what it needs to keep growing.

Before joining Psych Starter, I worked on projects that ranged from digital marketing and analytics to process optimization. I’m detail-oriented by nature (and maybe a little too proud of my spreadsheets), but what really drives me is helping people access education that makes their lives better. That’s what drew me to this project in the first place — combining rigorous psychology content with genuine care for learner wellbeing.

When I’m not working, I’m usually cycling, tinkering with gear, or learning something new about design and technology. I love systems that make everyday life a little more efficient — whether that’s a smarter workspace setup or a perfectly tuned bike.

I believe great operations are invisible: when they work well, everything just feels frictionless. My goal at Psych Starter is to make sure your experience feels that way too — calm, clear, and built to support your success from start to finish. Get out there and crush that exam.
